#8 Make Your Own Way
Let's face it, transitioning out of sport is tough, especially when that sport is hockey. Hockey is more than just a sport you played. It gave you a sense of purpose, identity, and community. You might not think much about this kind of stuff in the moment, but I promise you, you will once it's gone. What you're feeling is actually a profound sense of loss. The good news is, no one is just one thing. Hockey was and is a huge part of your identity, but not the only part. It's my hope that you'll recognize this moment for what it is; an opportunity. It's a clean slate. One where you get to figure out what you like and what really matters to you. Rather than trying to fit in somewhere you don't because you think it's what other people want for you. It's time to take control of your own destiny. Start working on yourself, investing in yourself, and find out what you're truly capable of. I bet it's more than you think.
